The Bucyrus City School District, in partnership with the Pioneer/Bucyrus Marketing satellite program, is excited to announce the grand opening of the Red Zone Spirit Store during the varsity home boys basketball game Feb. 6. The store, located in the Bucyrus High School commons, will offer Redmen apparel and other Bucyrus-branded items.

The idea of the spirit store was developed to provide the Pioneer/Bucyrus Marketing satellite program students an opportunity to fulfill their internship program requirements. The store is designed to give students a hands-on learning experience in the field of business and marketing.

"A goal of everyone in the Bucyrus City School District is to build up our school spirit," marketing teacher Ashley Severt said. "We are excited to offer students, parents, families and community members a place to easily purchase spirit wear!"

The store will stock Redmen t-shirts with designs that will change with the sports season. There is also the option to order long-sleeve t-shirts, crewneck sweatshirts, hoodies and sweat pants. The ability to purchase school supplies will be added so the store can be open during the school day to benefit students.

"The store is currently open during home sporting events and will soon be open during the school day during the lunch periods," Severt said. "Students, parents, family, alumni, staff and community members can follow the store on Facebook and Twitter by searching 'The Red Zone' for updates on the days the store will be open."

During the grand opening, the store will be giving away a t-shirt at halftime of the varsity game. No purchase is required to win the prize. Sign up for the giveaway at the school store before halftime of the varsity game Feb. 6. The store will also be giving away candy and other small items to those who visit during the game.

"We are excited to have this store up and running for the remainder of the winter sport season," Secondary School Principal Dr. Mark Burke said. "This will not only be an outstanding learning opportunity for our students, but also a great place for Redmen fans to purchase spirit wear to show their school pride."
