The Bucyrus Redmen varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams will host Volley For The Cure, a regular season high school volleyball match aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer, again this year. The match against Buckeye Central will begin at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 6, at the Bucyrus Secondary School. Fans that wear a Volley for the Cure t-shirt will receive half-price entry into the event.
According to coach Allysen Coleman this philanthropy project is extremely important to her Lady Red because, "cancer has influenced several of my team members' friends and family. Having donation games, like Volley for the Cure, raise a lot of money to benefit a great cause – finding a cure for breast cancer."
In addition to the game itself, an array of baked goods and raffle items will be available for purchase throughout the evening. There will also be a silent auction that will feature gift cards from local business and an Ohio State Buckeyes themed basket. A 50/50 raffle will also be available. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go toward the Susan G. Komen for the Cure fund.
A "Pretty in Pink" contest will also be held during the matches. The winner of the contest will be announced after the first set of the varsity match, and will receive prizes!
