High School vocal music concerts and awards set for May 13

The Bucyrus High School vocal music department is excited to announce the date and musical selections for its spring concert and awards program. The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Little Theater May 13. The Bucyrus High School Concert Choir will perform first, followed by the Bucyrus High School Players Show Choir.

Musical selections for the evening include:

BHS Concert Choir

  • "Exsultate, Jubilate"
  • "River in Judea"
  • "Magical Kingdom"
  • "Lil' Red Riding Hood"
  • "I Was Here"
  • "Best Day of My Life"
  • "Stray Cat Strut"

BHS Players Show Choir

  • Pompeii"
  • Chicago"
  • "New York State of Mind/Empire State of Mind"
  • "Hollywood"

Both groups are under the direction of Nickie French, Director of Choirs for the Bucyrus City Schools. "These students have worked diligently all semester to prepare for this performance," French said. "They are excited to perform, and we hope everyone from the community will make time to enjoy the fruits of our labor."

In addition to the vocal concert, the Choir Awards ceremony will be held to honor students for their dedication and hard work in the vocal arts department. Nine students will be receiving their choir letter, eight students will receive their first choir pin, two students will receive their second choir pin, two students will receive the Outstanding Musician Award and one student will receive the Distinguished Choral Musician Award.
