The students and staff at Bucyrus Elementary School will welcome veterans to a special Leader in Me luncheon Thursday, Nov. 10. The event will begin at 12:00 p.m. and conclude by 2:00 p.m.
The Elementary School is a Leader in Me school, and is hosting their leadership luncheon as a way to show thanks to veterans for their service to our country.
“The Leader in Me luncheon is one of many activities taking place to honor our veterans Nov. 10,” said third grade teacher Kim Haldeman. “We will host a mini-assembly for student leaders and guests prior to the luncheon, as well as have veterans reading in our classroom and our annual Veteran’s Day assembly.”
Third, fourth and fifth grade students will serve as greeters, tour guides, singers, servers and luncheon partners. Pre-school, kindergarten, first and second grade students prepared decorations including placemats, guest bookmarks and various patriotic displays. The after-school program students created centerpieces and a number of BES art students will have artwork on display.
“Student leaders will meet and greet guests at the door and escort them to the auditorium where they will enjoy positive leadership songs,” said Assistant Principal Timothy Souder. “Students will then take our guests on a tour of our building to highlight all the positive things happening at Bucyrus Elementary School.”
At the conclusion of the day’s activities, Elementary students and their teachers will create the American flag in the school’s auditorium. Visit theleaderinme.org for more information about The Leader in Me program.
