The Bucyrus City School District Board of Education approved the extension of its Blizzard Bag policy during their regular meeting Feb. 26. Two additional blizzard bags will be assigned to eliminate make-up days already planned for June 2 and 3. Additional blizzard bags will be assigned if the district is forced to shut down due to inclement weather.

The Bucyrus City School District has missed a total of 13 instructional days so far this school year. Two of these missed days will be made up Friday, March 27 and Monday, April 6. Making the blizzard bags available in lieu of make-up days at the end of the school year will give students additional exposure to materials during the critical state testing window. Further, the Board’s decision will keep the last day of school for students as June 1.

The district administration and staff will be working to get the two additional blizzard bags prepared and posted to the district website, www.bucyrusschools.org, as soon as possible. Paper copies of blizzard bags will also be available. Families will receive notifications via phone, text and email when the blizzard bags will be available and assigned to students.
