Bucyrus City Schools' Food Service department is excited to announce
the five finalists for the Bucyrus Elementary School Future Chef
Competition. The competition, which is aimed at educating kids about
healthy eating habits, will be held at 5:00 p.m. March 23 at the Bucyrus
Finalists, in no particular order, include:
- Melody Burke – 3rd grade
- Madalyn Kimmel – 4th grade
- Christian Linn – 4th grade
- Karys Boyd – 5th grade
- Natalie Stover – 5th grade
In order to be considered eligible for competition, students in
grades three through five were required to submit a recipe highlighting
their favorite healthy snack. Thirty-five entries were submitted, making
the selection process extremely challenging again this year.
"I was amazed at the number of students wanting to participate in
this year's event," Food Services Manager Lorie Pennington said. "With
such a large number of entries, it was extremely difficult for our
judges to select the best five recipes for our competition."
The Sodexo Chef Manager and Sodexo staff judged the entries. Names of
the students were hidden from the judges and final choices were made
strictly based on recipes.
"It's going to be an exciting evening," Pennington said. "Congratulations to all our finalists and good luck at the cook-off!"
