2015 graduating class of Bucyrus High School will receive their
diplomas in the Secondary School gymnasium at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 31,
2015. Student speakers for this year's commencement ceremony include
Becca Mutchler and Dylan Mutchler. A total of 74 Bucyrus seniors will be
moving on to the next stage of their lives.
"We are very proud of the many outstanding achievements of our
graduating seniors," Secondary School Principal Dr. Mark Burke said.
"These students have shared their time and talents, and have left an
indelible mark on our school and the district."
A select group of students receiving special recognition will be
those who qualify to receive the prestigious Ohio Department of
Education Honors Diploma. In order to receive this high level diploma,
students must meet the following requirements:
- 4 units of Honors English
- 4 units of College Preparatory math
- 4 units of science, including physics and chemistry
- 4 units of social studies
- 3 units of foreign language
- 1 unit of fine arts
- Achieve proficiency benchmark for Ohio Career-Technical Competency Assessment
- Cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher
- 27 on the ACT or 1210 on the SAT
"Graduation is an exciting time for students, parents and our entire
school family," Superintendent Kevin Kimmel said. "I speak for the
entire staff and Board of Education when I say that we could not be more
proud and appreciative of this group of seniors for the leadership they
have displayed throughout their careers, and the lasting impact they
have had on the entire school district. I want to personally
congratulate each member of the Class of 2015 and wish them all the best
in their future endeavors."
