It has been 25 years since Bucyrus football fans have celebrated a playoff football season. In honor of that season, the Bucyrus Athletic Department and Head Football Coach Aaron Eckert will be honoring the 1991 Bucyrus Football Team at halftime of the varsity football game against Pleasant Friday, Sept. 9.

The 1991 team was led to the state playoffs under the leadership of Bucyrus Head Coach Scott Roddy. “This was an incredible group of great student-athletes,” Eckert said. “We are striving to achieve what they accomplished back then today.”

The evening’s festivities will begin with a cookout at 5:00 p.m. next to the Bucyrus Middle School. All coaches, cheerleaders, players and their spouses and children are invited to the cookout.

Coach Eckert isn’t the only one eager to welcome the team back. “This will give our kids an opportunity to connect with the tradition of Bucyrus football,” Athletic Director Rick Rawson said. “I am really excited about them coming back. It should be a fun night.”

If you have any questions, you can contact Rick Rawson at 419-562-2739. Coaches, team members and cheerleaders planning to attend should RSVP to David Smith at dsmith@bucyrusschools.org. Mark this date on your calendar and help us honor some of the former greats!
