Bucyrus to Host Fifth Annual Wellness Day
The Bucyrus City Schools Wellness Committee, in conjunction with the 21st Century Community Learning Grant, Sodexo, and the Bucyrus Education Foundation, will sponsor its fifth annual Wellness Day May 17 at the Bucyrus Secondary School.

Tony Rose Named New Boy's Head Basketball Coach
The Bucyrus City School District Board of Education approved a teaching and coaching contract for Mr. Tony Rose during a special meeting in the Bucyrus Secondary School Media Center May 14. In addition to his teaching assignment, Rose takes the helm of the Boy's Basketball program at Bucyrus High School.

Bucyrus City Schools Recognize Dedication, Hard Work of Teachers
Teacher Appreciation Week throughout the United States is May 6-10. The Bucyrus Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) will be celebrating with Elementary School teachers during the week by giving each teacher a Subway gift card and cookies.

Bucyrus Golf Team to Host Spring Camp
The Bucyrus High School Golf Team will be hosting a spring Golf Camp May 14-16 and May 21-23 from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Golf Club of Bucyrus. Students in grades four through eight are encouraged to attend.

Bucyrus to Host 14th Annual Golf Scramble
The Bucyrus Redmen Touchdown Club will host its 14th annual golf scramble June 8 at the Golf Club of Bucyrus. Registration for this year's four-person scramble will begin at 8 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 9 a.m.

Bucyrus Students Praised for Academic Achievements
In order to commend Bucyrus students for their hard work and academic achievements throughout the 2012-2013 school year, the Secondary School will be holding its annual Academic Awards Banquet Sunday, April 28. The middle school portion of the program will take place at 2 p.m., followed by the high school’s program at 5 p.m.

Secondary Students Get Fit with Zumba
Bucyrus Secondary School students had the opportunity to learn about a different form of exercise during physical education classes April 12. Local Zumba instructors Diana Shroll, Faith Achtermann and Barb Koehler lead Zumba during eight class periods for all high school and eighth grade students.

Bucyrus Launches After School Dinner Program
Many students rely on their school district for meals. Studies have shown students do not perform well in school when they do not have enough to eat. Recognizing a growing need for better nutrition for its students, the Bucyrus City Schools has launched an after school dinner program.

Bucyrus Student Advances to District Speech Competition
The Bucyrus Secondary School is pleased to announce Emily Howald was the winner of the local Rotary Four-Way Test Speech Contest. Howald, a junior at BSS, will be competing in the district competition in Van Wert March 23 and will deliver her speech about stereotypes.
