The Bucyrus City School District Board of Education meets at 6:30 p.m. in the Lincoln Administrative Center Board Room the third Thursday of each month. These regular meetings are open to the Bucyrus community.
Dr. Paul Johnson is a former principal, curriculum director and superintendent with Bucyrus City Schools, as well as a former school psychologist with Crawford County Schools. He is currently a professor of educational leadership with Bowling Green State University. Paul has a B.S. in Education from Ohio State University, a M.Ed. in School Psychology and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration, both from Bowling Green State University. He has twelve years’ experience on the Leadership Advisory Council, the Ohio Association of Professors of Educational Administration, and the University Council for Educational Administration as well as four years’ experience on the Central Region Ohio School Boards Association Executive Council and the Pioneer Career and Technical Center Board. Paul and his wife, Winnie Johnson, have five children who are all Bucyrus High School Graduates: Andrea, Katie, Drew, Kristie, and Brian. They have one grandchild whose name is Charlie. In his free time, Paul enjoys genealogy, gardening, and traveling. He is a strong advocate for public education as he believes it is the very foundation of our democratic republic. John Kime has served on the Bucyrus City School Board since March of 2017. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Tiffin University and has spent the last six years at Ohio Mutual Insurance as an Underwriter and Statistical Analyst. John is also a three-year member of Rotary International. His wife is Tiffany Kime. When he’s not golfing, he’s excited about the direction of this town, and our school district! Mr. Adam Stone was first elected by the Bucyrus community to serve on the board in 2012. Mr. Stone is a proud Bucyrus graduate and chose to get involved because he strongly supports the direction of the Bucyrus City School District and wants to help facilitate its continued movement in that direction. Traci Wetterau has served on the Bucyrus City School Board since 2014. A graduate from Ashland High School, she has a Bachelor’s of Elementary Education with a specialization in Reading from University of Akron and a Master’s in Gifted Education from Ashland University. Traci is a retired educator after thirty years with Bucyrus City Schools and currently holds the position of Shift Supervisor at Peebles Store in Bucyrus. A member of Good Hope Lutheran Church, she enjoys reading, scrapbooking, traveling, photography, gardening, and shopping in her free time. Debra K Hoover has served on the Bucyrus City School Board since January of 2018. A proud graduate of Bucyrus High School, she earned a B.S. from Ohio State University in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree from Ashland University in the Curriculum & Instruction of Literacy. She began working as a classroom aide for Bucyrus City Schools Preschool in 1983 and spent most of her teaching years at 1st grade. Since her retirement in 2015, she has spent three years as an adjunct professor for Ashland University. Over the years, Debra has served as BHS cheer coach, prom advisor, Ohio Reads facilitator, and district representative for the Kindergarten Readiness Council for the Marion/Crawford Community Action Commission.
