Afterschool Programs

Study after study has shown that a quality after-school program can be a tremMark Burkeendous benefit to students. By receiving two separate 21st Century Community Learning Center Grants, the Bucyrus City School District is able to provide outstanding afterschool programming at both Bucyrus Elementary School and Bucyrus Secondary School.

Bucyrus Elementary

Reminder: There will be no morning or after school BEST  Feb. 21-23.

 Bucyrus Secondary

Before school tutoring / assistance is also avaialble for any MS/HS student Monday through Friday from  6:30 - 7:30 a.m. Contact Beth for location information.

Program Activities:

Students will receive a nutritious snack, academic intervention, character education and homework assistance. Participants will also be invited to partake in an array of field trips and family engagement activities.

Schedule of Events  (schedule is subject to change):

  1. Oct. 13 - Safety after School (This event is open to anyone in the district)
  2. Nov. 17 - Technology Literacy and Safety
  3. Dec. 3 - Family Fun: Spaghetti dinner and tickets to the BHS boys home basketball opener   
  4. Dec. 15 - Holiday Talent Show
  5. Jan. 19 - Nutrition / Cooking Healthy Snacks and Meals
  6. Feb. 16 - Financial Literacy Night (This event is open to anyone in the district)
  7. March 20 - Adult and Student Wellness
  8. April 26 - Family Fun: Family picnic night with games and prizes

There is no cost to any student or their families to participate in our program since all expenses are paid through our 21st Century Grant. Working together with parents, students, and classroom teachers we can make sure that students in our program will have the B.E.S.T. opportunity to succeed in school.

Technology Spotlight:  The 21st Century After School Community Learning Center Grant is a voluntary program for targeted students in third, fourth and fifth grade, who might be struggling with reading and math, the opportunity to learn outside the hours of a typical school day. Read more...
