Bucyrus City Schools Building Information

Building Projects:

Now that the Ohio School Facilities Project (OSFC) has reached closeout, we have the opportunity to move our interest earnings from the project to our permanent improvement account.  The Bucyrus City School District residents graciously passed a 1-mill (1/2- mill for maintenance fund required by OSFC and an additional  ½-mill for permanent improvements) levy along with the construction project in 2006.  When added to our interest earnings, it appears that we have a some room to maintain our buildings and keep up with the necessary upgrades to our other facilities.  For example, the Lincoln Building and Annex renovations came from the permanent improvement fund.  So that we are fiscally responsible with these funds it is necessary for us to look into the future of the district.  Amongst the anticipated items for which we are planning are (in no particular order): finish the Lincoln Building and Annex renovations, continued technology needs, updated bus fleet, repairs to our athletic facilities, necessary maintenance and upgrades in the building leading to an Energy Star rating.  Again, the overall objective is to provide efficient facilities of which the community can be proud. We want families who are making a residential decision based on the schools to say…I Choose Bucyrus!
