Bucyrus City School District Performance

The Bucyrus City School District is pleased to announce the following local report card information that is released by the Department of Education.

Bucyrus City School District Designation: Effective

            Bucyrus Secondary Building: Effective

            Bucyrus Elementary Building: Effective

Both our district and elementary building moved from Continuous Improvement last year to an Effective rating this year. The improvement was made by the increases in our Performance Index.  The Performance Index rewards the achievement of every student, not just those who score proficient or higher. Districts, buildings and community schools earn points based on how well each student does on all tested subjects in grades 3-8 and the 10th grade Ohio Graduation Test. While much growth was shown by our students throughout the district, the focus remains on improving the academic progress of students with disabilities.

It is important that Bucyrus City Schools continue to build on the momentum and maintain our focus for all students to realize success. We saw gains in academic progress from previous years, but still have much work ahead as we are moving to a more rigorous set of standards, scheduled for 2014-2015 school year, that will better prepare Bucyrus graduates to be college and career ready. The implantation of these new standards are starting this school year. I would like to commend our educators on the progress we have made, but remember that we cannot lose focus to ensure all students are achieving their learning goals.
