Bucyrus Board approves makeup days and school calendar
The Bucyrus City School District Board of Education approved several items related to the school calendar during its regular monthly meeting February 28.
The first item approved was the school calendar for the 2019-2020 school year. The calendar will be available for download on the district website, www.bucyrusschools.org, by clicking on the “Calendar” link and then the “2019-2020 School Calendar” link on the right side of the page.
The board also approved makeup days for the 2018-2019 school year. The district has used seven calamity days to date, requiring two makeup days that will be Thursday, March 21 and Monday, April 22. Conferences will be held at both the Bucyrus Elementary School and Bucyrus Secondary School the evening of Wednesday, March 20 and the morning of Friday, March 22.
“Unfortunately, this year’s winter season has caused us to make the decision to use our previous scheduled makeup days,” Superintendent Kevin Kimmel said. “We will be making some adjustments to our schedule for conferences March 20 and 22 and will communicate those changes to families and the community in a timely manner.”
The board also approved an agreement with Franklin Covey to continue the Leader in Me program at Bucyrus Elementary School, as well as an agreement with North Central State College for the district’s College Credit Plus program.
Following the approval of all other agenda items, the board recessed to executive session with no additional action being taken after the session.
The next regular meeting of the Bucyrus City School District Board of Education will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Lincoln Administrative Center Board Room Thursday, March 28.
