Bucyrus Board of Education approves repairs to historic auditorium ceiling

The Bucyrus City School District Board of Education elected its leadership and setits meeting schedule during the organizational meeting Wednesday, Jan. 9.

Dr. Paul Johnson was elected President of the Board and Mr. John Kime was elected Vice President. The 2019 regular monthly board of education meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Lincoln Administrative Center BoardRoom the fourth Thursday of each month, with the exception of November and December.

The board recognized fifth grade student Paige Barnett for herwork in designing the annual Board of Education Christmas card during the regular meeting, which immediately followed the organizational meeting.

A discussion was held about the historic Bucyrus Elementary School Community auditorium with members of the Crawford County Community Concert Association and the board approved a resolution to have the ceiling repaired and reinforced to preserve the historical integrity of the auditorium. The board also discussed the district calendar for the 2019-2020 school year.

Following the approval of all agenda items, the board recessed to executive session with no additional action taken. The next regular meeting of the Bucyrus City School District Board of Education will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Lincoln Administrative Center board room Thursday, February 28.
